WEF picks UAE minister as a member of the Young Global Leaders community

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has selected Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, UAE, as a member of the Young Global Leaders community (YGLs) 2022. Al Olama is one among 16 in the class of 2022 for the Middle East and North African Region.

Omar Al Olama joined the UAE government in October 2017 as Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, before becoming Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Teleworking Applications in 2020. He also helped draft the UAE Centennial 2071 strategy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution Strategy. Al Olama has been championing UAE’s attempts to be recognized as a global leader in the digital economy.

The YGL forum has over 1,400 members and alumni from over 120 nations, including Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Carlos Alvarado Quesada, the President of Costa Rica. It brings together 109 young leaders from around the world, all under the age of 40. WEF and YGLs members include public personalities, businessmen, social entrepreneurs, intellectual, social, cultural, and sports leaders, as well as heads of civil society organizations and media.

YGL’s 2022 class will include participants from 42 nations around the world who will work together to design a leadership curriculum that will help them make a bigger impact. Executive classes are offered, as well as numerous opportunities to brainstorm and test ideas with a trusted network of peers.
