Volocopter to launch flying electric taxi service in Singapore
The German aircraft manufacturer Volocopter is all set to launch its first flying electric taxi service in Singapore within the next three years.
The taxis developed by volocopter are electrically powered that take-off, land vertically and is also emission-free; it can accommodate up to two passengers and fly directly to the destination.
The company had opened an office in Singapore and conducted extensive Flight tests, In October 2019, Over Marina Bay Volocopter had already completed the first manned test flight with its electric 2X aircraft.
The flight demonstration was to give observers the unique opportunity to have a sense of what UAM (Urban Air Mobility) will look like.
Volocopter will have to obtain necessary regulatory approvals from Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) before launching the services in Singapore.
To obtain this Volocopter will be conducting comprehensive tests, evaluations, flight trials and certification before approval to commence commercial flying taxi operations can be granted.
Volocopter will build a local team of 50 people and conduct assessments, extensive testing and flight trials and certification process before the first commercial route opens.
The company plans to execute its first route as a touristic route over the southern waters, offering views of Marina Bay skyline, to enhance regional connectivity cross-border flights will be included.
