Abu Dhabi-based Al Yah Satellite Communications Co PJSC, on Friday, said its government services arm Yahsat Government Solutions received an approval from the UAE Government worth $5.1 billion to provide satellite capacity along with managed services for 17 years.
The company said the agreement valued at $5.1 billion includes operations, maintenance and technology management services of ground segment satellite systems and terminals that are currently provided under a separate contract. This deal will be enforced by replacing the two existing agreement, Capacity Services Agreement (CSA) and the Managed Services Mandate (MSM), which is said to end at November and December of 2026.
The collaboration focus to provide UAE government with secure and reliable satellite capacity along with services using Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2 satellites, which is in orbit, and launching two new satellites, Al Yah 4 ‘AY4’ and Al Yah 5 ‘AY5’ in the coming years.
In mid-2023, Yahsat said it signed a deal with an aerospace industry Airbus for the construction of AY4 and AY5 satellite. The AI tech satellite, AY4 and AY5 included spacecraft, ground segment infrastructure, launch and insurance, which will be funded by Yahsat’s research.
Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Chairman of Yahsat stated, “By complementing our existing fleet with Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5 next generation satellites, we will be able to serve the government with new cutting-edge solutions that are not currently possible.”
Kaabi also said, “The performance of the new satellites is expected to significantly surpass current industry capabilities including capacity, coverage and flexibility allowing us to offer a wide range of next generation applications to our end user.”
