Tesla to hit European markets with its China-made Model 3
Tesla will be entering European Market through export of its China-Made Model 3. It will export Model 3 sedans from its factory in Shanghai later this month. It will be joining large number of automakers with China as an export hub for E-vehicles.
Reasons for export:
The export of Model 3 comes to Europe as German government announced a subsidy of up to 9,000 euros for electric car buyers, including the Model 3 and Tesla is preparing to build a German factory on the outskirts of Berlin.
Market Expansion
Though tensions between Washington and Beijing have been escalating, Tesla has been expanding the market in China. Tesla’s first car plant situated in the outskirts of the United States, The Shanghai factory, aims to build 150,000 vehicles this year.
Tesla said that the support from Government towards the industry, new technologies that attract customers and innovative local companies make China the best market for E-vehicles. It also said that the industry would expand its production, charging and sales networks in China.
Tesla, being the biggest auto market is building new car manufacturing capacity in Shanghai to manufacture its sport-utility vehicles “Model Y”. It has sold more than 11,000 Model 3 cars in China last month. BMW, German rival is likely to export its electric iX3 model to Europe and Daimler is swapping its production of Smart branded city cars to Hangzhou Bay.
