Tejas Networks, telecom and networking company, on Tuesday, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telecom Egypt, with an aim to propel Egypt’s telecommunication sector.
The optical networking company said it will share its experience in implementing the Bharatnet (Rural Broadband Project) and NKN (National Knowledge Network) projects in India. Also, the company said its goal is to replicate these positive outcomes in Egypt.
The MoU covers capacity building for Egyptian engineers and technicians. Tejas Networks intends to set up local manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facilities for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) products in Egypt.
The agreement includes establishing technical support services in Egypt, which will assist both local clients and the wider Africa and Middle East region.
“MoU with Tejas Networks is one of the fruits of discussions that began in January 2023 to enhance cooperation between Egypt and India in the field of communications and information technology,” said Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt.
Tejas contributes to global 5G standards through its work in TSDSI (India’s Telecom Standards Development Organization), ensuring the needs of both Indian and emerging markets are incorporated into upcoming standards of the economy.
According to Precedence Research, the global telecom services market was estimated at $1.81 trillion in 2022 and is expected to exceed around $2.65 trillion by 2030, with a registered compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.85% between 2022 and 2030.
