Engineering and digital services company Tata Technologies and automobile firm BMW Group signed an agreement to form a joint venture on Tuesday, aiming to establish an automotive software and IT development hub in Indian selective cities including Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
The company said the JV agreement is subject to assessment and approval by the relevant authorities. Its major development and operational activities will be based in Bengaluru and Pune, while its focus will be on business IT solutions in Chennai, added Tata Technologies.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), sister company of Tata Technologies, said it trained over 350,000 employees on foundational skills in GenAI, a week ago.
Also, TCS said it is one of the first few Global System Integrator Partners to achieve the AWS (Amazon Web Services) GenAI competency that possesses extensive knowledge and technical expertise in using AWS technologies and best practices to adopt generative AI.
Digital services company said the joint venture will focus on strategic solutions for software-defined vehicles (SDV). The company’s trained and experienced professionals will ensure robust and immediate contributions to software projects.
“We will leverage our deep domain knowledge and SDV expertise to collaborate with the BMW Group towards engineering vehicles that are not just technologically advanced but deliver exceptional experiences to consumers around the globe,” said Nachiket Paranjpe, President of Automotive Sales at Tata Technologies.
In 2023, Tata Technologies inaugurated an innovation centre in Coimbatore, focused on developing, testing, and integrating automotive software solutions for global customers.
