Mining firm Metals Acquisition Ltd (MAC) appointed Morné Engelbrecht as its new chief financial officer on Wednesday, taking over from Dan Vujcic, interim CFO, effective February 10, 2024.
The newly appointed financial chief, in his 23 years of professional career has served multiple leadership roles pertaining to the resources industry like mining, oil, and gas. Engelbrecht most recently worked with Australia-based oil and gas firm Beach Energy for about 7 years as chief executive officer. Prior to which, he served as CFO with the same firm.
Vujcic, one of the founders of Metals Acquisition, was named as interim financial chief in July 2023, in place of Jaco Crouse, former CFO who stepped down from the role to pursue other opportunities. Vujcic joined the firm as chief development officer in March 2021, and he will continue as development chief at the mining firm.
Crouse joined the company as chief financial officer in July 2021, while also heading as CFO of resource firm Amaroq Minerals, since January 2021.
“We are very excited to welcome Morné to our team and to have secured a high-calibre and accomplished executive,” said Mick McMullen, executive chief of MAC.
“His strong financial and risk management skills, broad experience across many jurisdictions, operational expertise, knowledge and relationships in the finance, banking and investor universe will be of great value for us as we optimize the CSA Copper Mine and continue to grow our business,” added McMullen.
