Macquarie to sell České Radiokomunikace to Cordiant Digital Infrastructure

The Australian investment bank and financial services company Macquarie to sell České Radiokomunikace to Cordiant Digital Infrastructure.

České Radiokomunikace is one of the leading telecommunications company in the Czech Republic. The company also provides media and technology infrastructure, it operates a portfolio of 660 telecommunications towers, with 97 radio broadcasting sites, 86 television and 3,730- kilometres of fibre.

The Head of Central and Eastern Europe for Macquarie Asset Management’s Infrastructure team, Martin Gebauer, said:

“We are proud to have supported České Radiokomunikace’s growth story over the past decade as it has evolved from a traditional broadcasting infrastructure owner and operator, into a leading digital infrastructure platform.

He also added that the entire company has enjoyed working closely with České Radiokomunikace dedicated team which helped in facilitating this transformation and they are delighted to have found a new owner who can help them further.

The Chairman of Cordiant Digital Infrastructure, Steven Marshall, said:

“We are delighted to have acquired České Radiokomunikace from Macquarie. České Radiokomunikace is a national champion with an unrivalled portfolio of assets in a core European country.

Steven Marshall also added that his team is delighted in partnering with the management team, stakeholder and its employees to continue build České Radiokomunikace as leading digital infrastructure platform serving telecommunications, data centre markets and broadcast.

Macquarie Mercer Infrastructure Trust, Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund III (MEIF3) and Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund II (MEIF2) had invested in České Radiokomunikace previously in the year 2011.

Since the year 2011 České Radiokomunikace has led the transition to second-generation terrestrial digital video broadcasting and it has also invested in the rollout of 5G, data centres and cloud services.

The Asset management team of Macquarie has been a long term investor in the Czech Republic’s essential infrastructure. Currently the funds of Macquarie, manage investments in GasNet, which operates 65,000 kilometre gas distribution network.
