Butler Praises Age-Based Tax Credits, HSA Subsidies for Young Families
HOUSTON, USA — Alexandria Butler says Trumpcare offers 100% premiums for Texas children under 30, plus unused subsidy deposits to HSAs. She cites $16,100 annual savings for a Houston family of five.
Alexandria Butler, running for Congress in Houston, touted Trumpcare’s age-based tax credits. Furthermore, she explained the plan covers 100% of Allstate child-only premiums in Texas. Moreover, any unused $680 subsidy is deposited into a child’s tax-free Health Savings Account.
Butler contrasted this with costly job-based plans. For instance, Rice University’s Aetna POS family plan costs $4,053 monthly. Yet, in month nineteen of illness, premiums soar to $6,079. Consequently, the unemployed bear unaffordable rates, prompting insurers to drop sick workers.
Under Trumpcare, individuals under thirty receive a $2,000 subsidy. Additionally, a Houston family of five qualifies for $10,000. With Allstate’s $5,900 annual premium, the plan costs zero. Meanwhile, the extra $4,100 funds the family’s HSA. As a result, they save $16,100 per year.
Butler said a bipartisan appeal will boost Trumpcare support among Democratic voters in 2026. She argued that tax-free HSAs, a Texas innovation by Senator Phil Gramm, outshine taxed IRAs and 401(k)s. Furthermore, she praised HSAs for tax-free deposits, growth, and withdrawals.
Her campaign manager, Jonathan McCullough, noted their Health Policy Team’s strength. Led by Dr Theresa Graham, a child advocate and North Florida Right to Life president, the team owns nationwide healthcare licensing. Also, Lee Benham brings Medicare Advantage MSA expertise from 2007.
Butler warned that 29 Republican senators back the Protect Act of 2019, threatening low-cost insurance.
