E-commerce platform Lazada Group said it partnered with Seoul Business Agency (SBA) to explore new venture with South Korea’s small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as to expand their reach into south-east Asia market, on Sunday.
The company aims to expand its reach by starting from Singapore. Lazada said this partnership aims to create opportunities for South Korean businesses thorough its technology, tool and solutions to expand on south-east Asian digital shopping space, while providing wider range of products and brand options accessible to its customers.
The company said this collaboration was confirmed after Jason Chen, chief executive of Lazada and Hyunwoo Kim, chief executive of SBA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Lazada Singapore.
Under this agreement, SBA will promote Lazada as a key Southeast Asian e-commerce marketplace, said the Singapore-based company.
Chen said, “This collaboration not only strengthens our commitment to offering buyers an extensive variety of products but also reinforces our dedication to fostering cross-border shopping and welcoming brands and sellers from across the globe to our e-Commerce ecosystem.”
He continued to add, “South Korean SMEs have much to offer, and together with Seoul Business Agency, we aim to unlock their potential in Southeast Asia.”
The chief executive of SBA said, “Partnering with Lazada will allow South Korean SMEs to sell their products to customers in Southeast Asia, and to optimize their businesses by accessing Lazada’s technology and seller tools.”
Kim also said, “This is a natural extension of our mission, and this MoU signifies our commitment to creating quality job opportunities and facilitating the success of South Korean businesses. We are excited about the potential this collaboration holds for our SME community.”
