Japan’s Astomos Energy purchases carbon neutral LPG from Shell

The Corp, Astomos Energy has purchases carbon neutral LPG cargo at the scale of the Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) which is believed to be first of its kind from shell .

This move by Astomos Energy is due to the tightened targets of carbon reduction around the globe as the global gas producers commit to environmental targets.

Shell The International Eastern Trading Company’s General Manager for Natural Gas Liquids Trading of shell, Emily Chin, said:

“The transition to a low-carbon energy future requires a range of solutions,’‘As more ways to avoid and reduce emissions are developed at scale, using high-quality nature-based offsets to compensate for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, that are otherwise hard-to-abate, is an immediately available solution.”

The Executive Vice President, COO, International Business Division of Astomos’s, Toru Araki, said:

“Astomos is proud to lead decarbonisation of the LPG industry and contribute to the transition and realisation of Japan’s net-zero ambitions.”
