Renewable energy power generation company Jakson Green collaborated with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on Monday, by signing its first power purchase agreement (PPA) for a utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant.
The company said Jakson will make sure the required permits are obtained and Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) network is connected in order to provide power to SECI.
Jakson Green stated the project is expected to be operational within 18 months of the PPA signing date, and the power acquired by SECI for 25 years will be sold to various discom organizations (distributes electricity to consumers) in India.
The project is planned to provide renewable energy enough to power roughly one lakh households each year and contribute to the removal of nearly 188,000 metric tonnes per year (MT/year) of carbon emissions, added the green energy company.
In April 2023, Jakson Green bagged renewable energy projects totaling 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity in the domestic as well as international markets. The projects are to be set up through engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode for the customers in India, Africa and the Middle East regions, based on data from the Economic Times.
Domestic peer Adani Green has operationalized 551 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity, by supplying power to the national grid from its renewable energy (RE) park in Khavda, Gujarat, earlier in February.
“We are confident this project will significantly contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals and create lasting value for all stakeholders,’’ said Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Private Limited.
Jakson Green, energy transition platform owned by Jackson Group and founded in 2022, is headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
