On October 10, 2022, a “flying automobile” created by Chinese electronic vehicle manufacturer Xpeng had its first open test flight in Dubai. The Dubai International Chamber, one of three Chambers operating under Dubai Chambers, hosted the test flight. Zero carbon dioxide emissions are produced during flight, and the eVTOL X2 flying automobile can operate in low-altitude cities and attain a top speed of 130 kmps.
The Dubai World Trade Center Authority, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority all provided support for the event, which was organised jointly by the Dubai International Chamber and XPeng.
Li Xuhang, the Consul-General of China in Dubai, Hassan Al Hashemi, the Acting President and CEO of the Dubai Chambers, Dr. Brian Gu, the Vice Chairman and President of XPeng, Mohammad Al Kamali, the Deputy CEO of Dubai Industries and Exports, as well as representatives of the business community, government officials, and members of the local and international press, were present at the event.
XPENG X2
The X2 aircraft completed its historic 90-minute test flight after taking off in Dubai, ushering in a brand-new future of short-haul travel and intelligent mobility solutions.
The X2 model, which will have room for two people, is the company’s fifth generation of flying automobiles. Although the X2 lacks wheels, company representatives claim it serves as a crucial foundation for the next generation of flying automobiles, which will be able to travel both on land and in the air.
The cutting-edge two-seater eVTOL flying car X2 is the most recent generation of flying cars created separately by XPENG’s affiliate XPENG AEROHT. It is outfitted with an intelligent flight control system and autonomous flight capabilities. With a top flying speed of 130 kph, the X2 is built with low-altitude city capabilities in mind.
