France, Germany and UK under Lockdown due to Coronavirus, Travel restrictions increase in Europe

As Europe is again stumbling under a huge spike in number of Coronavirus infections, European countries France, Germany and UK goes under lockdown.

Now, with a huge spike in COVID positive numbers, 2020 is definitely turning out to be disappointing for both travelers as well as the industry stakeholders.

The number of Coronavirus infections has been huge in all the three nations and most of Europe, leading to strict lockdowns for all the three nations and the possibility of more nations following suit.

France has announced a new national lockdown as it struggles to contain a second wave of Coronavirus infections.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron said

“We are all in the same position: overrun by a second wave which we know will be harder, more deadly than the first.

“I have faith in us, in you, faith in our ability to overcome this challenge… We will get over this if we are united, and we are united.”

Mr.Macron said France’s European borders would remain open but travelling between different parts of the country will be forbidden from Friday.

Germany will also go into partial lockdown to reduce the surge in Coronavirus Infections.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the new lockdown measures saying the Federal Government had come to an agreement with states to lock down the entire country for at least two weeks.

Travel restriction in Germany

Although travelling is not compeletly banned, the government has advised people to not travel if not necessary, Overnight stays in hotels for tourist purposes has been banned

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a second lockdown across England, in order to deal with the rapidly increasing Coronavirus infections.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressing a briefing from 10 Downing Street said

There was no choice but to be “humble in the face of nature” and unless tough action is taken now the peak of mortality in the country could be even greater than the first wave triggering a “medical and moral disaster”.
