Luxury car maker BMW Group partnered with 3D modeling and software developer Dassault Systèmes on Thursday, to develop BMW Group’s engineering platform featuring Dassault’s 3D Experience platform.
The strategic partnership between the two companies is a confirmation of the fundamental role of the 3D Experience platform in enabling companies to deliver products faster, said the company.
The automobile firm also said the platform will deliver data-driven approaches to manage exponential complexity that carmakers are facing in connected, autonomous vehicle engineering. Also, all engineering disciplines of BMW Group will be working on a virtual twin of a vehicle that can be assembled with integrated data.
Julien Hohenstein, Vice President of Processes, at BMW Group research and development, stated, “We will only optimize our engineering process if we think digital, work connected, and rely on integrated data.”
“With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, BMW Group can rethink its engineering development process to deliver the most personalized and sustainable experiences to its customers,” said Laurence Montanari, Vice President of Transportation at Dassault Systèmes.
In addition, the company can orderly migrate data from its existing IT solutions and extend its engineering platform to other disciplines such as modeling and simulation, said the automobile company.
Headquartered in Munich, BMW Group is a premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles consisting of four brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad, providing premium financial and mobility services worldwide.
