Renewable energy storage firm Ava Community Energy (Ava), on Tuesday, said Nick Chaset, Chief Executive Officer of the company will step down from his role, effective July 15, 2024, to join a global clean energy company as a senior executive leader.
Chaset has been with the firm since 2017, serving as Executive Chief. Prior to this, he was the Chief of Staff for California Public Utilities Commission for about two years. He began his career working in clean energy for Q-Cells.
Chaset’s experience showed positive growth as well as maintaining a consistent 95% customer retention while expanding its footprints by adding five new jurisdictions to its original customer geography, said the firm.
“My goal with Ava was to show our community that clean energy can be more affordable, more reliable, and just plain better than fossil fuel and, over the past seven years, we have achieved just that,” said Chaset.
In late January, the firm also appointed Annie Henderson as Chief Customer Officer, who formerly served as Ava’s Vice President of Marketing and Account Services.
Formerly known as East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), Ava Community Energy was established in 2018 to provide greener power at lower rates.
The firm is a nonprofit public power provider for about 1.7 million residents and commercial clients in Alameda County and the City of Tracy, with service extending to the San Joaquin County cities of Stockton and Lathrop in 2025.
