Amazon in talks to acquire MGM studios for $9 billion

The American based technology company Amazon is in talks to acquire MGM studios for $9 billion which would improve Amazon’s streaming media.

This reports comes hours after telecoms giant AT&T agreed to club its WarnerMedia unit with Discovery in a deal to create a new streaming giant.

According to the media reports MGM studios parent company MGM Holdings has been fishing for a sale since the end of previous year.

This purchase by Amazon would mark a major step for its Prime streaming service.

MGM Studios which offers a huge catalogue of films and television shows which covers the last ten decades through the Golden Age of Hollywood to the present day.

It is reported that MGM has a library of 17,000 hours of TV and 4000 films. Amongst all this content, the James Bond franchise is the most valuable of all.

The American media company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios formed in 1924 which was primarily involved in production and distribution of feature films and television programs. One of the world’s oldest film studios.
