Renewable energy company Adani Green Energy commissioned a 180-megawatt (MW) solar power plant at Devikot in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on Wednesday. The plant has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The company said the solar plant would generate roughly 540 million units of electricity annually and will power over 1.1 lakh houses, reducing CO2 emissions by around 0.39 million tones.
The plant has waterless robotic module cleaning technologies, which allow for water conservation in Jaisalmer’s arid climate.
The Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), rooted in the secure digital cloud platform, offers real-time monitoring of Adani Green’s renewable energy assets, resulting in improved operational performance, said the energy company.
The energy sector is undergoing significant transformation in the current landscape, with a global push to reduce carbon footprints and embrace renewable energy, cloud technology allows energy companies to efficiently manage and leverage their data.
Cloud computing has the potential to improve energy efficiency by 93% and produce 98% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than on-premise information technology infrastructure, based on a study by GleecusTechlabs. The report also mentioned, over 55% of energy companies rely on cloud providers for mission-important data and applications.
The global solar energy market is expected to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.5% to reach $223.3 billion by 2026, according to a research study by Prudent Markets.
