Good Enough Energy to Invest ₹450 Crore for Gigafactory in India

Renewable energy company Good Enough Energy, on Tuesday, said it is set to start Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) gigafactory by investing $450 Crore ($54 million) for grid stability with an initial capacity of seven gigawatt hours (GWh) in Jammu and Kashmir, India.

The company said its battery gigafactory will begin operations in October, with the goal of contributing to India’s net-zero goal by reducing over five million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year and the plant will expand its capacity to 20GWh by 2026.

The company would invest in establishing the factory in Jammu and Kashmir, creating work opportunities for over 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as vendors and suppliers and boosting job generation in the region.

With a state-of-the-art BESS Gigafactory in Jammu and Kashmir, the company is focusing on developing indigenous BESS technologies, said Akash Kaushik, Founder of Good Enough Energy.

Earlier this month, Adani Green Energy Limited operationalized a cumulative capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW) solar energy project at a renewable energy park at Khavda, Gujarat.

India is also experimenting with innovative and advanced energy sources such as green hydrogen energy, which reduces carbon emissions. India has also implemented the Perform, Achieve, and Trade (PAT) strategy, which has averted 92 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in the first and second cycles.

Good Enough Energy is headquartered in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It works for sustainability and significantly cuts fuel use and CO2 emissions while offering silent nearly maintenance-free operation.
