Automation machinery manufacturer Schneider Electric collaborated with United Technology of Electric Substations and Switchgears (UTEC), electronic power distributor on Tuesday, to enhance local value creation within Schneider Electric’s data center business.
Subsidiary of Bawan Group, UTEC will integrate Schneider Electric’s modular data center systems using its local resources and expertise, which includes engineering, design, manufacturing, equipment integration, testing and inspection as well as after-sales support, said the parent of safety system maker Triconex.
A modular data center refers to a portable collection of components that are required to supply data center capacities like storage, networking environment, and servers, Schneider Electric had said. The company also stated it is an alternative to traditional data centres where design and construction are simplified to overcome general bottlenecks.
The joint venture looks to localize Schneider Electric’s modular data center business in Saudi Arabia by over 45% through job creation, as well as upskilling the workforce by knowledge transfer.
The energy management and automation firm said it aims to foster innovation, technological advancement and sustainability by reducing carbon emissions associated with transportation and a more resilient supply chain.
In late January, Schneider Electric collaborated with Charge&Go, tech investment firm to drive the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the UAE as well as to tackle increasing demand for sustainable transportation in the kingdom.
