Indian government-backed company NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), on Thursday, said Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India will dedicate 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project of Renewable Energy NTPC to the nation.
The energy company said this dedication will be held through a video-conferencing call, on Friday. The project is being executed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme (Phase-II), with an investment of ₹1803 crore ($217.2 million) to ensure green power to the state of Telangana, the company added.
With generation of 730 million units per year, this project will not only light up over 1.3 lakh households, the public sector enterprise also said and continued, it will also help in restricting 6 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission every year.
Going forward, the company said this project is expected to restrict CO2 emissions to 15 million tonnes in a span of 25 years. Also, the company highlighted the installation of over 13 lakh solar PV modules in this project, under the flagship Make-in-India programme.
Earlier this month, Modi also dedicated NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station and NTPC SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL) Rourkela Power Pant-II Expansion Project.
Founded on April 1, 2021, NTPC Green Energy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, which also covers NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio, with a focus on clean and sustainable energy projects.
