Global ed-tech company, Byju’s said that it has named former chief executive of UpGrad India Arjun Mohan to take over as CEO, succeeding a founding employee Mrinal Mohit, reported the Mint on Thursday.
Former CEO Mrinal Mohit resigned at time after board members representing Peak XV Partners, Prosus and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative stepped down in late June, without publicly expressing their reasons.
Based on Reuters report from June, they decided collectively to quit after raising concerns in recent months with leadership about the audit delays and how Byju’s dealt with issues relating to its lenders.
Previously, Mohan served as chief executive for about three years with UpGrad before he stepped down from his role in early January. Prior to which, he worked with Byju’s as chief business officer, and other senior roles for over 11 years.
Online educational platforms have been facing challenges ever since the end of pandemic. This has been resulting from reopening of schools, colleges and other educational institutions.
India’s reknown start-up said it is planning to sell two of its business reading platform and higher education platform great learning to pay off $1.2 billion loan raised in November 2021, mentioned the report of Mint.
