Japan Airlines partners with Uber to offer international services

The American technology company Uber, Will partner with Japan airlines (JAL) to offer its services through JAL’s app, the partnership will include plans to implement uber services at international destinations.

Japan Airlines conducts domestic and international air transport businesses (passengers, cargo) by 15 consolidated subsidiaries and one affiliated company.

Beginning on April 1 2021, Japan Airlines will start its services via the JAL app partnering with Uber.

The initial service will be tested in Japan but there are plans of extending the services in North America including Hawaii.

In Japan the “Japan Airlines” has been at the front line of the MaaS (Mobility as a Service) movement.

Allowing travellers to get from one point to another in an orderly fashion.

Travellers will now have a benefit from the time of departure to arriving at accommodation in the destination.

The demand for this experience was already increasing pre-pandemic.

According to GlobalData’s Q3 2019 consumer survey,

Sixty one percent of global consumers stated that they were interested in buying such products that help them save money and time.

As part of the collaboration, the Uber icon will be displayed on the JAL app, 

letting passengers to request Uber services from the arrival airport for a ride or to request food delivery services at their destination. 

The companies plan to unveil services when travellers visit North America and Hawaii.

Uber which has the world’s largest rideshare (request, ride, and payment) and food delivery services provided across more than 10,000 cities

In 71 countries around the world, will work together with JAL to provide seamless transportation services to their mutual customers. 

Through this collaboration, JAL and Uber aim to create a comfortable and safe travel experience during and after the COVID-19 era.
